What Equine Relationships is about:

Whether you are a spouse seeking a closer relationship with your partner, a professional business person, practitioner or teacher wanting to communicate effectively to others, or if you are interested in improving your inter-personal communication skills or anyone interested in evolving their connection with horses you will discover that the powerful tools you learn by attending this programme can shape and re shape every aspect of your social and professional development.

Why you need to attend Equine Relationships:

In any of your personal or professional relationships are you striving to communicate easily yet don’t know how to? Do you want others in both your social and work life to understand clearly what you mean to say? Do you want more success and motivation and less stress trying to get things done with others in your life?

What happens when you attend this programme:

Working with horses demands that you are very clear in your communication. Horses do not understand words and therefore rely on reading the subtle energetic signals of your body language (what you are REALLY feeling) as opposed to just your intention (what you thinking). Current neurobiological studies assert our thoughts are only 7% of our communication capacity, much of which is distorted and useless as relevant information. The IFEAL Equine Relationship experience is your opportunity to discover a further 93% of effective, authentic and successful communication potential.

How do horses help me communicate effectively:

The safe, simple yet profoundly powerful step by step process of the IFEAL Approach allows for horse communication experiences that conclusively show you how to access your fullest communication skills potential. The Equine Relationship Programme skilfully facilitates and ensures you know how to align your thinking with your body language so that your communication is consistently clear, true and successful.

What if I were to invest and attend Equine Relationship:

Imagine what your life would be like if you were able to understand that what you actually communicate to others is not what you really mean.

How different would the outcomes of events in your life be, if you learnt communication skills and techniques that change and empower yourself and others, in a way that leads to outstanding success both in your personal and work life.

How good would it feel to consistently communicate your needs and wishes so effectively that your life moves in a direction that you always wanted.

What would you really want to communicate, if you had the ability to communicate with confidence and create the life of your dreams.

Do you believe that the ability to express your ideas effectively is more important perhaps than the idea itself?

If want to access now, the truly transformational yet easy to use every day tools of The IFEAL Approach in an fun and innovative way, then book onto Equine Relationships and maximize your communication effectiveness.

With the explosion in the market of horses being ‘used’ for Facilitated Learning programmes: Riding for the Disabled, disaffected youth programs, personal growth programs and executive business coaching programmes. We need to ask ‘is it as good for the horse as it is for the human?’ Sun Tui, an Advanced Epona Approach™ Instructor, has insightful ideas about the sustainable standards for the emotional, mental and physical welfare of the horses as sentient beings, in Facilitated Learning environments. She has pioneered The Equine Relationships workshop and models a deep awareness of the horse’s perspective and innate needs. This workshop incorporates The Epona Approach™ tools and IFEAL applications that are useful to engage and empower a more mindful and caring relationship with horses working in any human environment.

(This workshop can be used as a qualifying workshop for IFEAL EAP/EFL Facilitator Training incorporating The Epona Approach™)

Most psychologists treat the mind as disembodied, a phenomenon with little or no connection to the physical body. Conversely physicians treat the body with no regard to the mind or the emotions. But the body and mind are not separate and we cannot treat one without the other. Research has shown that the body can and must be healed through the mind and that the mind can and must be healed through the body. Neuroscientist, Candace B Pert, PhD

The focused, subtle, energetic shifts of Integral Mind Body Therapy gets directly to the core healing processes. Integral Mind Body Therapy (IMBT) identifies energetic blocks in the body and mind in order to release them. Shifts into health are elicited through subtle physical movement and re-framing of ideas about the world and ourselves. This process enables clients to re-connect to the life force chi energy and to feel deeply their life purpose. Ancient native healing techniques are integrated with Time Line® and Hypnosis Therapy. Clients are supported to feel and explore momentarily, the dynamics of their dis-ease, in order to implicitly accept the underlying wisdoms and leanings for health. This Way, IMBT surpasses hours spent in conventional therapeutic methods of healing. The IFEAL horses are available to work with clients, if they so chose, as part of this powerful, life enhancing process.

Direct, spontaneous healing happens easily when we understand our pain and hurt from the perspective of The Present. The focus of this therapy is primarily on what the feelings or body sensations are in the moment; in the NOW. This way, we effortlessly we let go the limiting beliefs and stories of the past and create new life enriching pathways to a future of consistently healthy success. This significant benefit and opportunity is yours when you embrace The Integral Mind Body Therapy Way.

At all times the client is in control of their own process. Through a short series of Integral Mind Body Therapy sessions the client will learn how to manage a congruent energetic connection between their body and their psyche, effectively and easily for themselves.

A couple of years ago, during my apprenticeship at Epona, Linda Kohanov commented that the time had come for the Epona Community to bring our work into the greater community. While our instructor community and the various applications for the work continue to grow, Linda made a compelling point. To a great degree, up until that time, Epona had, in effect, been preaching to the choir. The vast majority of people that have been drawn to the work are, for lack of a better term, already on the same frequency as Epona. Many of us were already on our individual journeys. I know for me it was a life changing experience, but the seeds of change had been germinating within me for several years. But I think we can agree, the opportunities for the Epona Approach™ to improve the human condition expand far beyond our community.

My primary interest is to bring the work into the business community. As a tool for professional development the approach not only contributes to profitability, growth, and sustainability but it also kindles a shift to a more humanistic perspective. One that opens the door for new ways of leading, managing, and cooperating to emerge. A perspective towards management that finally catches up with the drivers of value creation in today’s complex, technology-driven world.

Bringing this work into the business community is, first and foremost, a process of translation. Of finding and understanding the language of this particular world. I first learned this years ago. My first sales job was selling research products into the biotechnology labs at M.I.T., Harvard, and the fledgling biotech companies around Cambridge back in the late 1980s. In order for me to differentiate myself as a resource and not just another suit walking through the door I had to master their language; the language of science. So I did. While I would never know as much about the science as my customers, I could communicate with them and garner insights into their challenges and research objectives.

The beautiful thing about the Epona Approach is its malleability. It can be shaped and applied into the context of pretty much any situation that involves human relationships. Even the relationship we have with our selves. The trick comes in drawing the arc. Of showing prospects how the process can accelerate their own journey from where they are today to where they wish to be tomorrow. One suggestion is to start with the prospect’s pain point…where do they have a breakdown that is limiting productivity, creativity, cooperation, or execution. From this perspective (the prospect’s) you will begin to see how the work can contribute to the objectives of the client and communicate in terms they can embrace.

Is it a sales problem? Solutions may lie in relationship building and communication.

Is it a leadership problem? Solutions may lie in cultivating empathy, non-verbal communication skills, and presence.

Is it a development problem? Solutions may lie in improving team work and organizational communication.

Is it a execution problem? Solutions may lie in process disconnects (revealed through higher self and social awareness) and a lack of emotional engagement.

The human element has never been more important to the success of businesses than it is today. Value is created through the development and commercialization of intellectual property. Human creativity drives today’s business engine. The old industrial model of exploiting raw materials, labor, and capital is drawing to a close, yet the managerial systems most organizations cling to were developed for this modality. This lag represents a significant market opportunity for Epona Instructors that have an interest in the various business applications of the work.

For the past several years this has been a key focus for our firm. We’ve tailored our value proposition in terms that resonate with our target prospects. We’ve developed curriculum that addresses evidence-based concerns. We’ve even gone to the extent of creating dedicated websites and videos for various applications of the work so we could further hone our message. Not only does this allow us to deliver a more powerful message it also drives search engine optimization due to the links between these sites and our primary site. But most importantly, all of these vehicles speaks in the language of our targeted prospects.

For those of you that are interested in offering services into the business community I’d like to share a new resource with you. Eileen Tighe is an EFL enthusiast with an exceptional background in corporate education. Eileen has just launched a new website as a gateway for EFL practitioners and the business community called http://www.winningwithhorsepower.org. Eileen is also organizing an exhibit for the upcoming American Society for Training and Development conference to be held in Orlando in May. The exhibit will feature EFL programs from participating organizations from around the world. Of note, the conference has more than 10,000 attendees from the corporate education and training market segment. The intention is to provide visitors to the booth with information from participating EFL programs that match their interests and geography. So even if you’re in Northern California we’ll see attendees from your area and would provide your literature. If you’re interested, you can reach Eileen at helloeileen@msn.com.

The Epona Quest Foundation, in collaboration with Mind Body Science, is gathering information on how horses affect people’s emotions in preparation for a grant application.

I’m very excited to be teaming up with noted mind-body science researcher Ann Baldwin, Ph.D., author/researcher Gary Schwartz, Ph.D., and Barbara Rector (co-founder of the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association and founder of Adventures in Awareness) to launch a significant study on how horse-facilitated learning can affect the intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of children in mainstream schools. Linda Kohanov

Epona Quest Survey

The survey will only take 10 minutes of your time and will, we suspect, show how horse enthusiasts are positively affected by time spent with these animals, giving us some initial data for an upcoming grant application that will take horse-facilitated learning into the schools.

The data gleaned from this initial survey should be interesting and useful in itself, and we will share our findings with you as soon as we get the results.

Best wishes on your own continuing journeys through the way of the horse! Linda Konahov

Criminal Intent and Responsibility: Neuro Scinentifc Exploration of Conscious and Unconscious Motivation

This conference will explore the subtle interface between conscious and unconscious motivation with respect to criminal intent and behaviour. While many neuroscientists stress the role of neurochemicals in the brain as a key driver of behaviour, our legal system is based on the ethical notion of personal responsibility, albeit to different degrees. This sets up an interesting tension between differing accounts of behaviour and motivation and poses the intriguing question: to what extent are we really responsible for our actions? This question will be examined by our panel of distinguished speakers from four different angles: social psychology, clinical hypnosis, neuroscience and law. The resulting discussion will give us a clearer and probably more complex understanding of the relationship between inner psychological and outer social factors. This will have significant implications in all four of the fields we will be covering.
